Irwin, John K; of Bloomfield Hills, MI; born July 16, 1923; died early June 6, 2007 at the age of 83.Beloved husband of Barbara for 53 years. Dear father to four children: Jane (Robert Romo) of Wilmette, IL; John (Lisa) of Orchard Lake, MI; Katherine Van Essen (Owen) of Santa Fe, NM; and David of Bloomfield Hills, MI.Loving grandfather to eight grandchildren: Robert and Daniel Romo; Stephanie, Sarah and Jack Irwin; Trevor, Joel and Daniel Van Essen. Also survived by brother Richard (Ann) of Bloomfield Hills, MI and sister Jeanne Seabright (William) of Evanston, IL. Preceded in death by brother Robert (Geraldine) of Waterford, MI.Graduate of Pontiac High School in 1941; attended GM Tech for 2 years prior to entering the ArmySpecialized Training Program. Called to active duty during World War II, spending time in Germany, Japan and the Philippines. Upon honorable discharge, attended Michigan State University, graduating with a B.S. degree and then University of Michigan Law School, graduating with a J.D. in 1951. Maintained a general law practice in Pontiac and later, West Bloomfield for 50 years.Elected to Pontiac School Board and served for 8 years, including one term as President. Member of B.P.O.E.; Lions Club of Pontiac; Birmingham Men's Club. Active long-time member of First Presbyterian Church of Pontiac MI, serving in many roles throughout the years, including Deacon. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 8 at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church of Pontiac, 99 Wayne at W. Huron St., Pontiac, MI.The Irwin Family will receive friends at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, 46 Williams St., Pontiac MI on Thursday, June 7, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9:00 p.m. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery.Gifts in memory may be made to the Oakland County Pioneer and Historical Society or to First Presbyterian Church of Pontiac.
