John (Jack) Frederick Austermann Jr.

John Frederick Austermann “Jack”; age 94; passed away on June 3, 2025.  Jack was born in Madison, Wisconsin in 1931. He is survived by his children, John (Susan) and Claudia (Andy); grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his daughter Laura; wife Opal; parents Helen and John Austermann; and his brothers, Hans (Marsha) Austermann and David (Linda) Austermann.

Jack was a graduate of Lawrence Tech University, and worked as a Mechanical Engineer in the automotive industry in Michigan and South Carolina.  He was a constant tinkerer and thinker, always looking to re-engineer things to make them easier and more accessible.  As an avid fan of the Velodrome in Detroit he even found a way to fix the viewing blind spots for those in the infield area. In his later years he became a writer of fiction and fantasy novels with two books published and several more in the process of being published.

The family will have a Private Service for Jack.
