John Andrew Kimmel

John Kimmel, of Lake Orion, passed away on March 18, 2022, at the age of 63. He is survived by his children Chris (Shannon) Kimmel, Cortney (Josh) Haney, and Cathy (Jason) Srock; grandchildren Koda, Isiah, Ryanne, and Isabella; and siblings Debra (Kenneth) Spurgeon, Ed Kimmel, and Laurie Kimmel Galloway (Bruce Peake), as well as many nieces and nephews.

John was born on December 30, 1958, in Detroit, to the late Sylvia (Catchpole) Hamel and the late Val Kimmel. After making the move from Detroit to Ortonville and graduating from Brandon High School, John eventually moved to Lake Orion with his former wife, Jeanne Osentoski, where they raised their three children.

A long-time resident of Lake Orion, John loved all that lake life had to offer. He was frequently found out on Lake Orion with his friends on his dragon Sea-Doo. In colder weather, John loved snowmobiling and exploring the trails in northern Michigan. When he wasn’t found on the water or the trails, he was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and loved all cars.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 26 from 12-5pm at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, Lake Orion.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan.
