STEFFENS, JOHN ALVIN NICHOLAS. December 24, 2007 Age 67 of Metamora., formerly of Lake Orion. Beloved husband of Carol of 35 Years. Loving father of Denise Marie Rupp and Annette Lucille "Annie" (John II) Gorney. Dear brother of James (Edyie) and Sharon(Terry) Lang. Grandfather of Melissa, Jessica, Joshua, Jarred and Jennifer. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Steffens had an Associates Degree in Law Enforcement and Criminalistics both from Oakland Community College; also attended the Institute of Applied Science in Chicago where he finished courses in Crime Detection. He worked In Lake Orion as a Police Officer for 25 years; worked in Animal Control and he was a Security Officer at St. Joseph Hospital; was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving during Vietnam. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, wood carving and the Ham Radio (Ham Radio Name KJ8S) He was a member of the Frankenmuth Wood Carvers Association and the Flint Carvers Association. Funeral service Saturday, December 29, 2007, 11AM @ St Joseph Catholic Church (715 Lapeer Rd) Family will receive friends 3-5 & 7-9 PM Friday, December 28, 2007 @ the Lake Orion Chapel of the Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home. Rosary Friday 7:30 PM. Interment Eastlawn Cemetery.
