Juanita Matias was born in Añasco, Puerto Rico, on December 16, 1949, and passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025, in Raleigh, North Carolina.
“Juany”, as many of us knew her was a woman of remarkable grace and unwavering spirit, a true beacon of love and support for all who knew her. She was a devoted wife for the majority of her living years, the BEST mother to her children, a wonderful grandmother as well as a cherished friend to many.
She found joy in sewing which was a true passion of hers since her early years. She was very creative and extremely meticulous when others requested her services. She also loved spending time with family and friends while sipping on her favorite drink…a nice hot cup of coffee. She had a warm smile and the kindest of hearts. Always ready to lend an ear or a helping hand. Her strength and resilience in the face of adversity were an inspiration to us all. She never complained, even when her strength wasn’t enough to keep her standing.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be etched in our hearts. She was predeceased by her husband Miguel; and she is survived by her children Amaralis, Miguel Lionel and Migdaly; her grandchildren Brunnie, Edwin (Bebo), Franchesca, Celimar, Miguelito, Lailani, Samantha, Justin and Julian; as well as 17 great-grand children.
She is also survived by her sisters and brother Gladys, Genoveva (Cuca) and Felix (Papo) in addition to multiple friends whose lives she touched in the most positive way possible and who will miss her dearly.
She will forever be in our hearts. We love her more than words can say and we pray that she is at Rest and at Peace in the wonderful kingdom of our Lord and Savior. God has truly gained an Angel!
