Karl August Trump, 88 of Troy passed away peacefully on July 21, 2020. Karl was born in Stuttgart, Germany on June 19, 1932 to Ernst Georg and Pauline (Hofacker) Trump and was the third of four children. He met and fell in love with Liliane (Krau) in Germany and left his entire family behind in 1951 to follow her when her family came to America. They married in 1955 and were together until her death in 1991. Karl served in the US Army stationed in Huntsville, Alabama as a translator for the German Scientists in the US Missile Program before he was even sworn in as an American citizen. After returning to civilian life, he enjoyed a long and extremely successful career as a commercial painter and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades for nearly 60 years. He was the painter every top architect and designer in Southeast Michigan requested for their most important jobs. While Karl enjoyed great success professionally, his greatest success was as a husband, father and an Opa. Karl is survived by his three children Mark (Amy) Trump, Susan (Barry) Douglas and Cynthia (Dustin) Pyscher. He was the loving Opa to Sophia Trump, Jacob, Alexa and Robert Karl Ayotte, and Liliane, Christian and Emily Pyscher and a Great Opa to Giles and Ayana Douglas. Karl is preceded in death by his wife Liliane, his parents Ernst and Pauline and his in-laws, Richard and Berta Krau, as well as his brother Ernst and sisters Marta and Doris. Karl will be inurned with military honors at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy. The family plans a Celebration of Karl’s Life on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alexandria Lambert Memorial Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as Karl’s love of all children was evident throughout his life.
