Kathy Martin

Kathy Martin; was passed from the loving arms of her husband Rick into the loving arms of our Lord on March 27, 2014. Born July 31, 1949, Kathy was a lifelong resident of Lake Orion. Kathy is survived by her husband, Rick of 44 years; daughters, Jenny (Charlie) Walrath, Beth (Nick) Meyers; grandchildren, Dylan, Bailey, & Brooklynn Walrath and Troy & Taylor Meyers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Payne and Mildred Downey of Lake Orion. Kathy retired in 2008 from Lake Orion schools after 32 years of teaching. Kathy loved spending time with family and friends and had a zest for life that inspired those lucky enough to know her. Memorial Services will be held Monday, March 31, 2014 at 11am at Lake Orion United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 3 - 7 pm at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, Lake Orion. The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Kathy Martin Scholarship Fund (for students within the Lake Orion School system). Checks should be written out to Scripps Middle School (Please write Kathy Martin Scholarship Fund in the memo) and mailed to Kathy Martin Scholarship Fund C/O Rick Martin, 2687 Holland St. Lake Orion, MI 48360.
