SANFORD, LAOMA ANNA, age 89, of Lake Orion and McAllen, Texas was called home by the Lord on November 18, 2007. She was born August 19, 1918 in Pontiac, Michigan. Laoma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Laoma graduated from Pontiac High School, was employed by Pontiac State Bank and eventually became a reporter for the Lake Orion Review. A devoted Christian, Laoma was a life long member of the First Congregational Church. There she actively participated in the Mary Lyons Club and Saybrook Group. As a philanthropist, Laoma supported numerous charities including being a Congressionalist Round Table Member. She volunteered often and especially enjoyed serving others through the AARP, Tax-Aide Program every spring in McAllen, Texas. Laoma adored nature, she went deer hunting every season through age 82 and gathered greens every fall for the church Christmas Wreath fund raiser. Married to the late Robert; mother to the late Aaron (Patricia); survived by four grandchildren, Dale (Valerie), Dawn (Dean) Hiruko, Lysa (Shawn) Thank, and Erin (Joel) Kent; survived by 13 great grandchildren, Ashley, Brittany, Joel, Channing, Paige, Desiree, Barbara, Grayson, Courtney, Beverly, Kaysci, Megan and Cutter. Services will be held at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, 111 E. Flint St., Lake Orion, Michigan 48362. Visitation Wednesday, November 28th from 3-5 & 7-9. Funeral will follow Thursday, November 29th at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow funeral at White Chapel Cemetery. We welcome family and friends to join us at First Congregational Church November 29th after services where we can share our memories and a meal in honor of Laoma.
