Linda Austermann

Linda J. Austermann of Lake Orion, 74, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018. Linda was a loving, kind, caring and very generous person who loved being with family and friends, but her pride and joy were her granddaughters. She loved her Norwegian family traditions such as Lefsa, Fattigman and Lutefisk. She enjoyed bird watching with her husband, gardening, painting, ceramics, and arts and crafts. She was very competitive, who loved playing cards and snowmobiling in the winter.

Linda was born in Park River North Dakota, to Willie and Josephine Laaveg on November 11, 1944.  She was married to David Austermann on January 24, 1970 in Lake Orion, MI. She worked as an administrative assistant to the president of Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital.

She was involved in Pythian Sisters and Sons of Norway, and was an active volunteer at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for many years.

Linda is preceded in death by her beloved husband David S. Austermann (February 2018).

Linda is survived by her loving son Matthew Austermann; older Brother Marvin (Margie) Laaveg, younger Sister Lorie (Donovan) Bender; her loving Grandchildren Sarah and Anna Austermann, and many loving family and friends.

Funeral will be 4:00 – 6:00 pm, January 4 ^th , 2018 at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, Lake Orion with service from 6:00 – 7:00 pm. Private burial to follow Saturday, January 5 ^th at Square Lake Cemetery.
