Linda Kristine Kansman Garland

November 18, 1949 – August 3, 2024

45 year Lake Orion resident Linda Kansman Garland passed away at home with family on Saturday, August 3, 2024 from complications of Alzheimer’s dementia at the age of 74.  Linda was born in Detroit on November 18, 1949 to her late parents Hans Kansman and Lorna Miriam Kilponen Kansman.  She graduated from Farmington High School in 1967 and was a Para Educator for Lake Orion Community Schools for 25 years at Pine Tree Elementary.  Linda loved to care for children and was adored and devoted to her family and loyal to all her friends.  Very happily married for 41 years, she has joined her late husband Mike in Heaven.  Linda is survived by her children Nicholas, Randall and Karina Garland; sister and brother in law Cindi and Keith Maddick; nephew Michael Mazur; niece Dawn Laskey; and 7 feline grandkids.  She was our matriarch and she will be greatly missed.

At a date yet to be determined, a memorial will be held at The Detroit Finnish Cooperative Summer Camp Association in Wixom.  Linda spent every summer of her life at the Finn Camp and raised a family there.  She was the most amazing mother who was well loved by all who crossed her path.
