SUTHERLAND, LOUISE COOLEY August 26, 2009 Age 102. Beloved wife of the late Loy. Loving mother of daughters, Susan (Gordon) Lawyer of Ortonville and Sally (Bob) Elgin of North Oaks, Minnesota. Dear grandmother of Heather (Mike) McPhilliamy, Heidi Asad, Sarah and Eric Elgin and 5 great-grandchildren. Louise was born in Lansing, and graduated from the University of Michigan in 1929 where she participated in varsity field hockey, basketball and tennis. Her working career included the State Library in Lansing, County Executive Director for the Girls Scouts, Delta Gamma Fraternity and working 45 years with husband Loy in a gas and oil business in Lake Orion and Oxford. Louise was active in the Junior League, Eastern Star Past Matrons and was committed to the University of Michigan Women's Athletic Association. She was forever a loyal Wolverine fan and attended games until she was 87. A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at 1:00pm at Indianwood Golf Club 1081 Indianwood Rd., Lake Orion 48362. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cooley Gardens in Lansing. Arrangements by the Lake Orion Chapel of the Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home.
