Lowell Jene Collins “Jeno”
Born August 9, 1939 at home in Boyer, West Virginia to Evalene and Harold Collins (deceased). Preceded in death by granddaughter Elizabeth June Marie Collins. Survived by brother Arlos Collins (Lisa) of Hixson Tennessee, children Kelly Davis (Danny) of Belleville Michigan, Martin Collins (Diana) of Tripoli Iowa, Christine Collins of Lake Orion Michigan and Drew Collins of Evansdale Iowa. 11 grandkids Crystal Collins, Cassidy Collins, Mason Collins of Iowa, Amanda Gall, Jon Gall and Jack Brawner of Lake Orion Michigan, Kelly Collins, Amber Collins and Callie Collins of Evansdale Iowa, 10 great-grandkids and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Jeno served in the Air Force 1958-1961. He started his career in information technology on the railroad in Toledo, Ohio. During his career he worked at NCR, Scientific Data Systems, Xerox Data Systems, Lockheed AirCraft, Preston Petty Products and Electronic Data Systems. Jeno was involved with the repair of CAT Scanners when the technology was first introduced. Over the years his career took him to Ohio, Iowa, Minnesota, California and Michigan. After he retired, Jeno worked at Meijer for another 15 years and officially retired when he was 79.
Jeno loved music and played guitar starting at a young age throughout his entire life. He could often be found in a jam session with his friends and played in several garage bands. He also loved motorcycles and golf. Jeno had a wonderful sense of humor and had a contagious laugh! He was an avid vinyl album collector and instilled the love of music in all of his kids. Jeno was a really great dancer. He was a ballroom and country line-dance instructor for many years. Jeno lived the last four years with his daughter Christine and grandson Jack on Lake Orion. He enjoyed hanging out on the boat, relaxing at Dollar Bay, the sandbar and jamming music on their daily sunset cruises.
Graveside service will be held on Saturday August 28, 2021 at Square Lake Cemetery in Orion Township (Joslyn Road north of Clarkston Road). Gathering at 9:45 am and service at 10:00 am. Following will be a celebration of Jeno’s life at 46 Heights Road, Lake Orion from Noon-6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children .
