Marcelo G. Hernandez, Sr.; Lord blessed him to 90 years of age; before taking him home. Our "Iron - Man "ended his long battle with Diabetes on December 5, 2008. He is survived by his children, Lydia (Gregorio) Ovalle, Olivia (Joe) Reyes, Maria (Jose) Ybarra and Marcelo (Rosaria) Hernandez Jr., also 10 grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild. Survived by brother Benjamin Hernandez Jr. of Ontario, California and sister Leobarda Longoria of Mercedes, Texas. Proceeded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Isabel Vasquez Hernandez, baby son Eloy, mother Refugia, father Benjamin Sr. and loving step mother Emilia Hernandez . brothers Tibursio, Victor, Manuel and Roman and sister Maria of McAllen, Texas. Marcelo was a veteran of WWII and retired from General Motors after many years of service. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:a.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church. The family will receive friends on Monday 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Pontiac Chapel of Sparks - Griffin Funeral Home. Rosary service Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Interment Mount Hope Catholic Cemetery. Reflections may be shared by visiting www.sparksgriffin.com.
