Margaret Flora Alton

February 1, 1915 — July 9, 2006

Margaret Flora Alton (nee Nicholie); age 91; is celebrating in Heaven now as she passed into eternity on July 9, 2006. She is remembered with joy by her children, Barbara (Russell) Day Cuyler of Collierville, TN, Robert James Alton Jr. of Bloomfield Hills, and Rod (Dianne) Alton of Ann Arbor. Margaret also leaves her sister, Virginia Ruth Nicholie; three grandchildren; Matthew (Stacy) Alton Day of Arlington, TN, Todd Gregory Day of New York, N.Y. and Katherine Elizabeth Alton of Durham, N.C. Margaret also has two great-grandsons, Logan and Austin Day. Margaret's parents Arthur Glen Nicholie and Flora McDonald Nicholie from Smith Creek preceded her in death, as did her husband of forty-eight years, Robert James Alton of Lansing. Also preceding her in death are her siblings Donald G. Nicholie, Elizabeth Jean Castell, Barbara May Rogers and David Nicholie. Margaret graduated from Gulf Park College for Women in Gulf Port, MS. She worked as a bridal consultant for J.L. Hudson Company for several years. She has been a devoted member of First United Methodist Church of Pontiac and later of Central United Methodist Church in Waterford. She served as president of the Women's Society for two years. She was president of Pontiac Farm and Garden Club and also volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital and Pontiac General Hospital. Margaret especially enjoyed her Valentine birthday. She has many friends and family members who will miss her greatly.
