HAMILTON, JOAN (Nee Clarke). Loving wife of the late James of 62 years with whom she shared a wonderful life, passed away October 5, 2010. Preceded in death by her mother and father, Margaret and Ronald R. Clarke and her brother Ronald R. Clarke Jr. Survived by her daughter, Heather of Detroit and son James, and daughter-in-law, Carla Nierman of Bradenton, FL. Also survived by sister-in-law, Elizabeth Weiss and dearest cousin, June Dreissigaker. Joan graduated from Hillsdale College and was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She was the director of a preschool program and a first grade teacher. She was proud to have her name registered in the Library of Congress as a certified Braille transcriber. A memorial service will be held at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 5500 North Adams Rd. Troy, MI 48098 at 11 am on Saturday, October 16, 2010. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of service. Family requests memorials to Leader Dogs for the Blind or Michigan Opera Theatre.
