Kimball, Marion Grace (Goellner). Pontiac Resident and Church Member.Marion Grace Kimball, 101, a long-time Pontiac resident and member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, died peacefully Monday, April 26, at her Pontiac home of natural causes.Marion was born in Detroit, April 4, 1909 to Edward and Gertrude Goellner. Mr Goellner was Chief of the Telegraph Bureau of the Detroit Fire Department. She graduated from Northern High School in Detroit. While there, she became a charter member of a service sorority-which remained together and active for over 60 years. She was the longest surviving member of the group. After graduation she worked for several years as a secretary at what was then the MacManus advertising agency in Detroit. In 1938, Marion married Clarke R. Kimball and moved to Pontiac where they raised four children and became an integral part of the Pontiac community for many years. She was active in the Christian Science Church, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, the PTA, Child Study Club and the Oakland Pioneer and Historical Society. Clarke ran The Good Housekeeping Shop of Pontiac for 40 years and died at age 97 in 2004. Along with her sisters, Ruth (Johnson) and Jean (Smith), their families spent joyous days in Detroit and a family cottage on Lake Erie in Amherstburg, Canada.She is survived by her four children: Joyce Lemaux of Arlington, TX, David (Barbara) of Monterey, CA; John (Lori) of Leesburg, VA, and Bill (Sue) of Bloomingdale, IL; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren a well as her friend and caregiver, Nancy Kendrick and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. According to her wishes, no funeral services are planned. A celebration of her life will be held at The Wisner Home, 405 Cesar Chavez Ave, Pontiac Michigan at 1pm Saturday, June 12, 2010. Light refreshments will follow. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Oakland County Pioneer and Historical Society, 405 Cesar Chavez Ave, Pontiac, MI 48342. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Pontiac Chapel of Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home. Reflections may be shared with the family by visiting www.sparksgriffin.com.
