Marvin L. Groat

Marvin Lee Groat; of Lake Orion; age 85; passed away on June 18, 2021.  Marvin is the beloved husband of Connie J. Groat for 63 years; loving father of Jeffrey (Viola) Groat, Daniel (Shawn) Groat, Andrew (Jill) Groat and Lisa (Thomas Yu) Brunson; loving grandfather of Connie Ann (Anthony) Collingwood, Danielle (Taylor) Forner, Ricky Nowakowski, Erinn Groat, Megan Groat, Luke Brunson and Alexandra Brunson; and great grandfather of Collin and Ellianna.  He is the dear brother of Clyde (Sally) Groat and Janet (Dalep) Karem.  Marvin was a wonderful husband and a devoted father who loved spending time with his family.  He was a very hard worker and good provider who owned Groat's Upholstering in Lake Orion for 30 years.  He spent long hours at work every day and then came home to work on building his home on Tommy's Lake.  Besides lake living, he enjoyed family trips up north where he had fun teasing and joking around with his children.  He also loved traveling to Florida in his motor home with Connie every year from January through March.  Marvin was an excellent role model for his family and they have many happy memories to be cherished.  He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 11 am at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, Lake Orion.   The family will receive friends for a visitation on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home.  Interment Square Lake Cemetery.
