Mary E. "Marlene" Martin,; of Oxford, formerly of Newark, Ohio; passed away November 29, 2008; born on May 6, 1939; beloved mother of Jon, Brian (Carla), Melanie Royster, Stephen (Cara) and the late Michael Martin; loving grandmother of Kate, Kristine, Kurt, Kamryn, Isabella, Andrew, Elena, Patrick and Claudia; and also survived by her very caring ex-husband Bill Martin. She was preceded in death by her siblings Leo, Rita and Richard. Marlene was raised in Newark, Ohio where she worked with her father in his insurance business. She later worked in the Clerks Office of the Licking County Courthouse. When she came to Michigan, Marlene focused her attention to raising her family for which she will always be remembered for being a beloved wife and proud mother and grandmother. In the later years of her life, Marlene was able to travel to China to visit her son Jon. And most recently Marlene had the opportunity to attend her 50th year class reunion in Newark, Ohio. Being able to attend this event was a source of immeasurable happiness and joy. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at the Lake Orion Chapel of Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. with a Scripture service beginning at 8:00 p.m. On Thursday, December 4, 2008 the family will gather at the Reed & Egan Funeral Home in Newark, Ohio to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Inurnment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery.
