November 2, 1948 — December 21, 2009

Melvin Boothe Jr. (Pookie) of Pontiac, went home suddenly to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ December 21, 2009 at 61 years of age. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving devoted wife, Ora Boothe, a beloved sister, Madeir (Rev. Andrew) Allie, sister -in-law Stephanie Spears - Boothe. Loving father of Joseph (Sona) Burks, Melvin Boothe III, Damon (Sonya) Boothe Sherman (Daquetta) Boothe, Toian and Ivin Boothe, Lameka (Rico) Turner, Lekesha and Shontell Timmons. 46 grandchildren, four great grandchildren. Survived by a host of relatives and friends. Special cousin and fishing buddy Michael Chunn. Melvin was preceded in death by his father and mother, Melvin Sr. and Norma Jean Boothe, brothers Mark Anthony and Rodney Boothe. Melvin served in the U.S. Army and retired from Pontiac General Hospital after 27 years of service. Melvin was also recognized by The" Guinness Book of World Records" for the longest nails on a pair of hands. Home going service will be held Thursday, December 24, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Untied Methodist Church, 620 University, Reverend Andrew Allie officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the church at 10:30 a.m. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery.Arrangements Entrusted to Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home.
