Melvin "Johnny" Thorman

Melvin Willam “Johnny” Thorman; of Oxford; age 94; passed away peacefully on February 28, 2020. Melvin is survived by his siblings, Elsie Ludeman, Gladys Laarman and Eugene “Gene” Thorman; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Della, step-son Arvin, Special Companion Fran, his siblings Marion Clement, Mildred Snover, Myrtle Wylin, Marvin Thorman, Minnie Redd and Ray Thorman. Melvin was born to William and Ella Thorman in Armada Township, Macomb County on September 23, 1925. He was a proud Air Force Veteran, and for many years Mel owned and operated Thorman Sand & Gravel trucking business. Mel loved traveling and was so proud to say that he had visited every National Park in the United States. He owned several classic cars and also enjoyed attending car shows, many types of auctions and flea markets. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 11am at the Christ Lutheran Church, 5245 Hadley Road, Goodrich, Michigan 48438. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4 to 8pm at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home in Lake Orion and on Tuesday from 10am until the time of service at the church. Interment at Lakeville Cemetery will follow the luncheon that will begin immediately after the funeral services at church. Donations may be made to McLaren Hospice or Christ Lutheran Church .
