Michael E. Mcquater

Michael McQuater. Feb 28, 2015; age 63; of Oxford Township. Mike is the father of Jon Paul Evans McQuater also of Oxford Township; step-dad to Brandi (Abel) Gonzalez of Highlands, TX; Kim (Andi) Sianis of Brighton, CO and Misti (Paul) Jellema of Ogden, UT; brother of Mark (Linda) McQuater of Richland, MI ; Mari-Ann (Carl) Henry of Orion Twp; Linda (Rob) Schneider of Perrysburgh, OH; Tom (Kathryn) McQuater of Dryden; and Tim (Rob) McQuater of Kalamazoo; grandfather of 6; uncle of 11 nieces and nephews; and great-uncle of 5. Mike was born in Royal Oak on Feb 1, 1952 to Robert and Doris McQuater (both deceased). He lived in Clawson for all of his school aged years. After graduating from Clawson High School in 1970, where he also played on the golf team and was on the wrestling squad, Mike went to MSU where he obtained his degree in hospitality. He went to work for Holiday Inns at many different locations across the country. It was working at the Holiday Inn on South Padre Island where he met and then married Ann Longone. His family instantly grew in numbers and love. Corpus Christi became Mike's favorite place to work, live and play golf. Lots of golf. From Texas, Mike went to work for the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant near Chicago, IL. Returning to MI after Ann's passing in 1993, Mike went to work for Certified Products in Pontiac and has lived in Oxford ever since. It is the plan to place Mike's cremains to rest in Corpus Christi, Texas at his request to be near Ann in a place that is forever warm. Services will be at the Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home in Lake Orion on Friday, March 6, 2015. Visitation will begin at 2:30pm with services following at 4:00.
