Mildred C. Shafer, August 11, 2006; of Lake Orion; age 89. Mildred was born December 20, 1916 in Lansing, Michigan. Dear wife of the late Gale Shafer. Beloved mother of Linda (Bill) Zikewich; loving grandmother of Michael (Meredith) Zikewich and Lisa (Dave) Hendrix; great-grandmother of Joey and Mason; dear sister of Constance Bates. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Martha (Jackson) Sumner. She worked at the Lake Orion Public Schools for many years. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. from the Lake Orion Chapel of Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, (248) 693-8336. Family will receive friends on Sunday, August 13, 2006 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment Eastlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Mary In The Hills Episcopal Church, Lake Orion.
