Monica Lynetta Gordon beloved sister, niece, and aunt, died unexpectedly on Thursday, January 21, 2016, at the age of 54.
Monica’s parents, Margie Mae and John Clifford, and her brother Johnny Orr preceded her in death.
Ms. Gordon was born August 17, 1961, in Pontiac, MI. She was a, compassionate, loving and giving person as was demonstrated by her service to both her parents when they fell ill. Monica cared for her mother and her father until they departed this earth. She was a life-long student and earned an Associates of Applied Science degree with summa cum laude honors from Baker College in 2005. She was a determined hard worker who was employed by Inalfa Roof Systems in Auburn Hills as a Technician and a member of UAW Local Union 155, at the time of her death.
She had a special mother son relationship with her nephew Darnell. Darnell would call and visit his aunt regularly. She was a life-long Lions fan and she and Darnell had a tradition of attending the Lions’ Thanksgiving Day game every year.
She is survived by her aunt Dorothy Milton, (8) eight brothers and sisters, Edward (Patricia) Gordon of Alabama, Kim (Avis) Bell of Farmington, John Gordon, Jr. of Pontiac, Henry (Charlene) Gordon of Southfield, Angela Amerson of Waterford, Karen (Linda) Gordon of Detroit, and Candace (Bertrand) Coleman of Detroit. She is also survived by a host of loving nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pontiac Chapel of Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home (46 Williams St.) Family will receive friends on Friday 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery. Everyone is welcomed to join the family in worship at 10:00 am, Sunday January 31, 2016, at Gen2Gen Ministries, located at 21650 West 11 mile Rd. in Southfield.
