Nancy Ellen Macdonald

March 11, 1947 — September 18, 2022

As Nancy Ellen (Cox) MacDonald quietly left this world on September 18, 2022, heaven enthusiastically welcomed this woman of grace. Her sweet legacy is represented by her beloved family:  D aughters Dawn Mullaly (Brian) and Michelle Robertson (Br i an); sister Joanne Detkowski (Paul); brother Robert Cox (Shelia); cousin Carol (Jim) Dowsett; grandchildren Sarah Schimanski (Brandon); Steven Robertson; Connor and Patrick Mullaly; JD and Kyle Robertson; great-grandson David Schimanski ; nephews Sean Cox (Janet) and PJ Detkowski (Jackie); and niece Melissa Monreal (Tony); along with other loving family and many loyal friends.  She was predeceased by her parents Homer (Don) and Dorothy Cox.

Nancy was an avid reader, movie buff, excellent cook, and sharp dresser. Through many years of various health challenges, Nancy’s consistent spirit of courage, hope and kindness encouraged many.  For 38 years, she embraced the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous.  She lived “one day at a time,” and mentored, sponsored and supported many other women on their sobriety journeys.  She also spent several years volunteering at Love Inc., providing words of hope to those calling the help line.  In all of this commitment to helping others, she selflessly lived by example her strong faith in God.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 3:30 pm at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, Lake Orion.  The family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday, September 23, 2022 from 3-8pm at the funeral home.
