Nikolaj "Nick" Danczenko; of Pontiac; passed away Sunday March 6, 2016 at the age of 69.
Born December 9, 1946 to Wasyl and Anna Danczenko in Regersbourgh, Germany. The family immigrated to Hamtramck in 1956.
Nikolaj served as a paratrooper in the United States Army, and later worked for GM Truck and Bus for 20 years. Nikolaj was a foster father to multiple children over a 10 year period and adopted one daughter.
He is survived by ex-wife Dawn Danczenko; their daughter Angel Danczenko; their granddaughter Ryleigh Danczenko; his son Nick Danczenko-Young; his sister Lydia Byczkowski of Belgium; and nieces Irene Byczkowski of Belgium and Lydia Eggleston of Michigan. Nikolaj also leaves behind several sister and brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews and many loved and cherished friends who helped to care for him when he was sick, especially during the last 5 years of his life. by his father Wasyl Danczenko; mother Anna Danczenko; brother Wolodomyr Danczenko; and best friend Albert "Bud" Mansfield.
