Pauline Ruth Egner

Pauline Ruth Egner (Nooney), age 93, of Lake Orion Michigan passed away at home on Sunday, November 6, 2022.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James G Egner; cherished sons Mark N Egner and Christopher James Egner; as well as her dear grandson Trevor Blaylock; and loving brother James L. Nooney.  She is survived by her daughters Kathie Blaylock (Jon), Debbie Egner (David Bartley), and Pam Chuey; as well as her grandchildren Matt (Amanda) Blaylock, Lisa Blaylock, Meagan Chuey (Kyle Rushing), Zack Chuey, Grace Bartley and Lily Bartley. She was also proud great grandma “GiGi” to Anabelle and Evelyn Blaylock and Lucas and Miles Rushing. Her sweet nieces and nephews are also part of her loving extended tribe.

She was born in Plainwell, Michigan, the first red head to be born at the city hospital. She spent the first 3 years of her college career at Michigan State College (she loved being a Spartan) and transferred to Western Michigan College to be close to her soon to be husband and finished her degree in teaching.

Her entire 32 year career was at Blanche Sims Elementary School, teaching first grade. She was a trailblazer of the time, being part of the first small group of women who returned to working after having children.   She enjoyed being part of the teaching sorority of Alpha Delta Kappa, Alpha Lambda chapter. This group of women were her colleagues, lifelong friends, supporters and cheerleaders.  She was also a member of the PEO sisterhood, chapter DX, which she joined after her retirement. She also found close friendships and fun with this organization.

She enjoyed being a member of the Lake Orion United Methodist Church for over 40 years.   She is known for her kindness to all and making people feel welcomed and loved. She served as a mentor in teaching during her school years, and always a mentor in grace, kindness and serving others throughout her life. She will always be remembered for greeting everyone with her warm and genuine smile.

The family will welcome friends for visitation on Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 2-6pm at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, Lake Orion. Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 11am at Lake Orion United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to community meals at Lake Orion United Methodist Church which provides a meal to anyone in the community who would like food and social connection or NOTA bus service , which helped Pauline get to appointments and keep her independence.
