Pedro Barba Hernandez (84) crossed from this life into the Kingdom of God on Christmas Day. Born on May 14, 1936 in Yorktown, Texas and raised in San Antonio until 1968 when him and his Brother Miguel traveled to Michigan for work. Adored Husband of 50 years to Jesusita (Adele) Hernandez; Loving Father to Micaela Hernandez and to the late son Pedro C. Hernandez II; Proud Grandfather to Chanel L. Hernandez; Proceeded in death by his parents Jesus and Micaela Hernandez; Brothers Miguel, Jose, Domingo, Jesus, Elias and Francisco; Sisters Guadalupe, Ramona, Frances, Manuela and Anita. He longed to be with his family and thought of them everyday. He was the Best Uncle to hundreds of Nieces and Nephews.
Pedro was in every sense of the word a Provider, he provided a home full of love, laughter, prayer and music that united us all. Every vacation time was spent traveling to Texas to visit with family. He was very proud of his Heritage and always made sure we loved our culture by teaching us how to sing in Spanish and traditional folklorico dance.
Retired from Akzo Nobel Coatings in Pontiac where he was instrumental in Safety rules and an advocate for his co-workers. He became a member of St. Vincent de Paul church and was Director of the Spanish Choir for many years. Playing his guitar in church for over 25 years was something he cherished. He became a member of the Knights of Columbus among countless other volunteer work he was involved with. If you didn't find him at church you found him at home with his family. We were always so proud of him by the way he gave of himself to anyone in need and his unwavering commitment to church and family.
His love for singing music led him to play in a Trio that would play everywhere. For 17 years every weekend they played at The Lark in Farmington Hills "Echo de Mexico" and "Trio Azteca" are a couple names they were known by among so many other "conjuntos". We will miss our Mariachi, his voice and kind hearted soul. Hard working, humble, generous, witty, and so very humorous are just the tip of his personality.
I thank God for giving us all these years with him. He is reunited with his family and friends and most importantly with Jesus Christ.
