Peggy Helm

Peggy Helm, 83, of Lapeer, Michigan, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.  She was born March 18, 1939, in Ypsilanti, Michigan to the late Ivan and Ouina Marshall.  She was predeceased by her high school sweetheart and loving husband of 64 years, Melvin Helm.

She was all about family and enjoyed spending time with loved ones, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  Holidays were especially important to Peggy as she relished the moments when her family gathered for these special occasions.  She was often the one behind the scenes making sure that there was plenty of food and that times together were memorable and special.  Peggy loved her husband and supported his passion of going to car shows with their ’57 Chevy and family camping trips with their 5 ^th wheel trailer.  She also enjoyed the simple things in life, such as Tweety Bird, Elvis, Justin Verlander, and watching western movies.

Peggy was a graduate of Pontiac High School in 1957.  As a young adult, she was a member of Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher.  She also worked at the former Kresge’s and Century Warehouse before devoting her life to caring for her family full time.

Peggy is survived by her four children, Rick (Teresa) Helm, Randy (Nancy) Helm, Rusty (Lenise) Helm and Vicky Helm; eight grandchildren (Scott, Bridget, Matthew, Jacob, Austin, Ashlyn, Adam and Justina); and four great grandchildren (Athena, Darren, Brooklyn, and Hunter).  She is survived by her three brothers, Rod Marshall, Don Marshall, and Gary Marshall.  She is preceded in death by her sister, Thelma Downer.

Visitation will be Friday, May 27, 2022, at Spark Griffith Funeral Home, 46 Williams St, Pontiac, MI from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.  Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at 11:00 am at Liberty General Baptist Church, 3545 Joslyn Rd, Auburn Hills, MI with a viewing prior to the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
