Alvarado, Petra; July 2, 2008; of Pontiac; age 87. Beloved wife of the late Raymond Alvarado. Loving mother of Raymond (Penny) Alvarado Jr., Rachel Ballard and Steve (Dawn) Alvarado. Mama had ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, Petra crossed into the United States at the age of 5 with her mother, two sisters and two brothers, where they settled in Cleburne, Texas. She married Raymond C. Alvarado in 1951 in Pontiac, Michigan. Petra was well known as "mama" by all. She enjoyed being with her family, working in her flower garden and she loved her Luchas. Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 7, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Family will receive friends at the Pontiac Chapel of Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home on Sunday at 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. with Rosary services at 7:30 pm.
