Phyllis Wheeler

WHEELER, Phyllis A., age 83, went home to the Lord on Monday November 18 2013. Affectionately known as "Sweetie" by her family, Phyllis is survived by her daughter Cynthia (Andrew) Coleman, of Waterford MI; her sister Norma St. Arno of Clarkston MI, three grandchildren, Ami E. Coleman-Miller of Lake Orion, Andrew V. (Samantha) Coleman of Laredo TX, and Amanda (Daniel) Dipple of Livonia. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren Christopher Miller and Malina Coleman, as well as many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews, and many friends. She will be especially missed by her dear life-long childhood friend Audrey Friday of Clarkston. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul, her parents Charles and Margaret Haffner, and her brothers Kenneth Haffner and Dale Haffner. Phyllis was born in Lake Orion on January 23 1930 and graduated from Lake Orion High School. She lived in Pontiac for many years and upon Paul's retirement she returned to Lake Orion to the home where she grew up, built by her father. She filled her days with gardening and keeping the bird feeders full and enjoying time with her family and friends. She was a very talented painter and filled her home with many beautiful landscape paintings. She especially loved family gatherings during the holidays. She was a devout member of the Gingellville Community Church. A memorial gathering will be held in her honor on Saturday November 30, 2013 at the Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home at 111 E. Flint St. in Lake Orion from 1-3pm. A private interment will follow at the Square Lake Cemetery where her ashes will be placed next to her beloved husband Paul.
