Rafela Gonzales

Rafela Gonzales; passed peacefully at home with family by her side on February 10, 2018. She was born January 11, 1925 in Poteet, Texas. Rafela is survived by her children, Lupe, Manuel (Nadine), Teresa, Joseph and Cindy; her sister, Epimenia; her 14 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 29 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Alfonso; her children, Alfonso Jr., Mary and Jerry; and 3 grandchildren. Rafela retired from the Oakland Press after 28 years of service. She was a big sports fan, loving all the Detroit teams. She was also a devoted bingo player, liked trips to the casino’s, enjoyed gardening and loved to cook. Family was the most important thing to Rafela and she loved to get together for any reason. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 10am at St. Damien of Molokai Parish, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The family will receive friends on Friday, from 2-4 and 6-8pm with Rosary Prayers at 7pm at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, Pontiac. Interment Mount Hope Catholic Cemetery.
