Ralph C. Fortney

October 1, 1930 — February 23, 2008

Fortney, Ralph C.; October 19, 1930 - February 23, 2008; age 77; formerly of Waterford. Ralph served in the Navy during the Korean conflict and worked for the phone company as a switchman until he retired. He is survived by his brother Hilman Fortney; sister Agnes (Richard) Deason; his four children Cynthia (Lauren) Vaughn, Anita Fortney, Thomas Fortney and Douglas (Christina) Fortney; and seven grandchildren. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. from the Pontiac Chapel of Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Friday 7 to 9 p.m. Ralph will be laid to rest in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Trinity Lutheran Church, 7925 Sashabaw Rd., Clarkston, 48346 or Oakland County Council for Children & Adults with Psychiatric Disabilities (OCAP) 1410 S. Telegraph Rd. Bloomfield Hills, MI 48302. Reflections may be shared at www.sparksgriffin.com.
