Reta Louise (Taylor) Anderson was born November 19, 1949, in Pontiac, Michigan, to the union of Rufus Davis Taylor and Mattie Jean (Scott) Taylor (both of whom preceded her in death). Reta was born into a loving, Christian home, the third of five children, (Reba Milton and Rondale Taylor, both preceded her in death). She attended Pontiac Public Schools and graduated from Pontiac Central High School in 1967.
Following High School, she went directly into the workforce, first employed at Pontiac General Hospital as a Front Desk Receptionist. In 1970, she was hired at General Motors (Pontiac, MI) following in her father's footsteps.

Reta accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifelong member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Pontiac MI. Previously, Reta volunteered at the Church's food and clothing pantry. Reta was an active member of the UAW Local 594 in Pontiac MI for several years and fondly remembered visiting Black Lake Conference Center.

Reta met and married the love of her life, Robert Anderson, Jr. (who preceded her in death in 2004). They had one Daughter Rhonda Poole (Jeff), three grandsons Jeffrey Poole II (Chantel), Joseph Poole (Lisa Ekanem) and Joshua Poole. Together Reta and Robert enjoyed boating on the Detroit River, fishing, and traveling (especially to the Cincinnati Music Festival with friends). The things that gave Reta great
joy was being with family and friends. She was an avid sports fan of the Detroit Lions, Pistons and Tigers, and could hold her own in conversation with anyone about the players and game strategy. She loved watching sports with her son in love, Jeff with whom she shared a special bond. Reta also nourished her nieces Rabiah Majeed and Roslyn Taylor throughout their life and into adulthood.

Additionally Reta had a special friendship with her in laws Cottrell (deceased) and JoAnne Poole as well as Kim (Poole) Howard. Reta’s bonus children: Cynthia Anderson (deceased), Kim Anderson (deceased), Robert Anderson III, Kevin Anderson, Beverly Britton, La’Trina Willaims and De’Andra Sanders (Clyde). Reta had many hobbies and interests. She loved to line dance, play bingo, go to the casino, watch Westerns on TV, garden and create beautiful jewelry and crafts. She was also a lover of good food. Reta enjoyed traveling the country and the Caribbean with her husband, Robert and later in life with sister, Regina. Reta retired from General Motors after 30 years of service, as a Stationary Engineer. She was a member of the "Just Us Girls" Club, from which she developed many friendships.

Reta also had many life-long friends from childhood, who were like sisters to her. They enjoyed many traveling adventures and good times together. Reta was a beautiful Mother, who had a very special relationship with her daughter, Rhonda. She adored her grandsons and was an involved, supportive Grandmother, "Nana" as she was fondly known to all. She volunteered numerous hours at West Bloomfield High School sporting events in the Concession Stand where everyone knew and loved her. Reta was a Dedicated Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Cousin and Friend to many. She will be deeply missed.

Reta departed this life and entered eternity on Monday, April 22, 2024. She was surrounded by her loving family (Rhonda and Jeff). She leaves to cherish her memory, her only child, daughter, Rhonda Poole (Jeff), Jeffrey Poole II (Chantel), Joseph Poole (Lisa Ekanem) and Joshua Poole. One sister, Regina Tenney (Jackie), one brother Reverend Ronnie Taylor (Teresa). She's also survived by nieces, Rabiah Majeed (Yusuf), Roslyn Taylor, Tiffany Taylor and Robyn Tenney. Nephews, Royce Tenney, Ryan Tenney, Jonathan Taylor, Caleb Taylor and Phillip Taylor. She also leaves to cherish her memory, many cousins, and dear friends.
