Rex E. Kelley; age 88; of Oxford; Independence Village of Waterstone; and longtime resident of Lake Orion; died peacefully on January 18, 2014. He was born February 17, 1925 to Archie and Hattie Mae Kelley in Vestaburg, Michigan. He was number 9 of 12 children; loving husband of the late Lila "Maxine" Kelley; beloved father of 12 children, Rodney Kelley of Gore, OK, Cherie (Robert) Kelley-Hunter of Oxford, MI, Deborah (Bob) Jones of Sacramento, CA, William "Bill" Kelley of Mt. Morris, MI, Cynthia (George) Francisco of Metamora, MI, John Kelley of Goodrich, MI, William "Bruce" (Pat) McCowan of Crossville, TN, Michael (Debbie) McCowan, Waterford, MI, Ellen (Brian) Binke of West Bloomfield, MI, Gary (Kathy) Brown of Oxford, MI, the late Russel McCowan, and the late Mark McCowan; beloved grandfather of 16; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. A special thanks to his staff and friends at the Independence Village of Waterstone. Rex was an Insurance Agent for American National Insurance Company and later retired from ARA Vending. He took great pride standing tall in his cowboy hats and handlebar moustache, playing the Jew's Harp, dancing with pretty ladies and showing off the size of his nice warm hands. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 1pm at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, Lake Orion. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11am until the time of service.
