Richard Woodworth Allerton of Clinton Township, age 90, passed away December 10, 2021. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 18, 1931 to Hugh & Sarah (Gish) Allerton. Richard was the beloved husband of 24 years to the late Gloria (Mele) Allerton. Loving father of Cindy (Jeff) David; dear brother of Mary Jane Shields, Sally Snyder and the late Hugh Allerton Jr.; devoted grandfather to Tommy (Deborah), Jason (Tammy), Rocco (Sarah), Lola, Aaron, Matthew, Jeremy (Renée); as well as 9 great grandchildren. Richard graduated from Ferris State College in 1958 and continued studies at the Christian Education School and the Mid western Baptist College. He was an ordained minister. Richard was a natural history buff, tracing his ancestry to find that he was a twelfth direct descendent of Isaac Allerton who came over on the mayflower and a descendent of Jonathan Allerton who fought in the American Revolution. Richard loved time spent with family and friends; he loved Bible studies;& music. His passion for helping others in anyway he could through his ministry, was his life’s calling. Richard will truly be missed by all that knew him. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 20, 2021 from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, Pontiac Chapel.
