Richard “Dick” Hedderich; 84; peacefully passed away on April 9, 2025; at his winter home in Port Isabel, Texas. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 4, 1940 to Richard Guy and Phyllis Mae (Marlow) Hedderich. Dick grew up Lake Orion and relocated to Traverse City in 1976. Following his retirement, he enjoyed splitting his time between Traverse City and Port Isabel. Dick was a proud veteran, a devoted father, a loving partner, and a loyal friend to many. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle man, known for his strong work ethic and diverse talents. He truly believed in living life to the fullest. Dick was an enthusiastic outdoorsman who relished his time fishing in Northern Michigan and Southern Texas, always on the quest for that elusive “big one” that got away. The time he spent at his hunting cabin on Drummond Island pursuing the big buck, brought him immense joy and unforgettable memories. Dick cherished the moments spent with his friends at the annual FSU and CMU homecoming events. His friendships ran deep, dating back to high school and college days. For Dick, a friend was a friend for life. However, above all, he cherished his relationship with his long time and loving partner Connie, and his son Shaun. Dick is survived by his son Shaun, his devoted partner Connie, and many cherished friends and relatives, including Connie’s family, whom he came to love as his own. Dick’s kindness, generosity, and love for his family and friends will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. Cremation has taken place. A casual Graveside Memorial and Burial will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Eastlawn Cemetery in Lake Orion, Michigan. Rest in peace, Dick. You will be deeply missed.
