Richard Simpson

July 2, 1923 — April 12, 1951

SIMPSON, CAPTAIN RICHARD H., born July 23, 1923 in Detroit to the late Harold and Vera Hazel (Pask) Simpson. He was presumed dead on April 12, 1951 when his B-29 was attacked by enemy fighters and crashed in Sinuiju, North Korea. Father of Jo Ann Simpson-Libby of Lake Orion, and the late Diane "Rusty" Simpson-Davis. Husband of Molly Sundell Simpson-Beauchamp of Lake Orion. Brother of Donna Marie Bell, and the late Kenneth. Grandfather of Brent Richard Simpson, Benjamin Leslie Kennedy Libby, Darren Lee Ackley, and Jason Michael Davis. Also survived by many Great-Grandchildren, Neices, and Nephews. Captain Simpson was decorated veteran of WW2, and served in Korea as a member of the 22nd troop carrier squadron of the U.S.Air Force.Funeral services Saturday 10:00 am. From the Lake Orion Chapel, Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home (248-693-8336). Internment Mount Vernon Cemetery. Visitation Friday from 2:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
