Robert Hardiman, Sr.

Robert Marion Hardiman, Sr. was born on Nov. 30, 1944 in Pontiac, MI and was the third child of eight children to Theodore R. and Frances V. Hardiman.

In his younger years Robert was an avid, well known pool player. He liked to say he taught many pool players over the years that came into his favorite hangout, the Wesson St. Pool Hall. Growing up he was forever joking and teasing people. He always loved to fish as a child with his Dad and his love of fishing never diminished, even as he became ill. One of his favorite past times was watching movies or playing games on his PS3.

Robert was a member of New Springfield Missionary Baptist Church of Pontiac where he loved the choir’s singing almost as much as he liked attending Bible Study and listening to the Pastor teach.

Robert was married to Bonnie L. Minton, who passed in February 2006. As Robert was called home on Nov. 3, 2018 there are 9 surviving children, Sandy Ybarra (Adam Winters), Cathy Benton, Gerald Demond Hardiman, Kimberly Hardiman, Ryan Hardiman, Danielle Hardiman, Rachel Hardiman, Daryl Hardiman and Travon Hardiman. He was preceded in death by 2 of his sons, Robert Hardiman, Jr. and Kevin Hardiman.

His surviving siblings will cherish their memories of him; Lloyd (Bernice) Hardiman of Mecosta, MI, Joan (James) Hunt of Ypsilanti, MI, Sharon (Melvin) DeVealt of Macomb, MI, Perry Hardiman of Pontiac, MI and Gary (Lynn) Hardiman of Pontiac, MI. There were 4 siblings to precede him in death, Theodore (Bud) Hardiman, Loretta Hill, Leonard Hardiman and Dwayne Hardiman.

He leaves a legacy of 27 grandchildren. There are a host of nephews, nieces and cousins throughout the state that honor his memory as well.

Visitation of the family will be held at New Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, 124 Prospect St., Pontiac, MI on Saturday Nov. 10, 2018 from 1 PM until 2 PM. Homegoing Celebration will commence at 2 PM with Pastor William Parker, Jr. officiating.
