ROBERT E MCQUATER - FEBRUARY 5, 2015. AGE 87. of Lake Orion. beloved husband of Doris (deceased) for 57 years. Father of Mark (Linda) McQuater of Richland. Mike McQuater (Anne - deceased) of Oxford. Mari-Ann (Carl) Henry, Lake Orion. Linda (Rob) Schneider of Perrysburg, Ohio, Thomas (Kathryn) McQuater of Dryden, Tim (Rob) McQuater of Kalamazoo. Grandfather of 15 and Great Grandfather to many. Great Uncle to Barry (Jodi) Blackington, Bonnie (David) O'Keefee, Beth (deceased) (Henry) Lourenco. Robert served in the navy after graduating from Royal Oak (Dondaro) High School. After serving in the Navy at the end of WWII, he headed to Michigan State University with his new bride, Doris, where he received his degree in Marketing. Upon graduation, he went to work for Chrysler Corporation, and stayed through his retirement in 1988. Robert spent his retirement traveling the country, playing golf and enjoying time with his grandchildren. While traveling, Robert never met a stranger, often getting into lengthy conversations with these new found friends. He always kept in mind the Michigan State football schedule each fall and often planned his travels around the Spartans. After Doris' passing, Robert began a special friendship with Shirley Wilson, of Clawson. They shared many mutual interests until her recent passing. Services will be at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home located at 111 East Flint Street in Lake Orion. Visitation is Wed at 1-4 and 6-9. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 followed by interment at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy.
