ROBERT LAMBERTO MITCHELL; age 89, resident of Auburn Hills, Michigan, passed from this world to be with the Lord on May 21, 2013. Born in Cambellton, Texas on September 17, 1923, the son of Henry Mitchell and Concepcion (Tejeda) Mitchell. Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Esther Duran Mitchell, as well as by his thirteen brothers and sisters, Leonard, Henry, Josephine, Lorenzo, Zulema, Joe, Estella, Sam, Frank, Adelaida, Albert, George and Ernest. Robert leaves behind a very large and loving family. Father to seven children, Sandra Grayden (Gary), Samuel, Arthur (Nilda), Susanna Wood, Patricia Morrison, Steven (Patricia) and Martin (Nickki). Cherished Grandfather to twelve grandchildren, Carmella (John), Monica (Jim), Steven, Terry, Jennifer (Jeff), Jeffrey, Michael, Robert, Christopher, Tara, Thomas and Jonathan; and five great-grandchildren, Briana, Marcus, Julian, Mariah, and Nicko. He is also survived by many loving and caring nieces and nephews. Robert served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and relocated to Pontiac, Michigan soon after his discharge from the Service. Employed by General Motors for over 35 years, he worked at the Fisher Body and Fiero assembly plants prior to retiring from Pontiac Motors in the mid-1980's. Robert was a member of the congregation at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Pontiac, Michigan. Although Robert lived in Michigan for over 60 years, his heart and remembrances remained with Texas throughout his waning years. The family will receive friends at SPARKS-GRIFFIN FUNERAL HOME, Pontiac, on Thursday, May 23, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with Scripture Prayers being read at 7:00 p.m. Private family services will be held.
