Robert G. Rowland

Robert Garfield Rowland; born April 28, 1937; died April 6, 2024.  Bob is the beloved husband of Cosette J. Rowland; father of Laura (Caulene) Rowland, the late Jennifer Gilbert, Nancy (Emmitt) Bryant, Robert Rowland and the late John (Shelly) Rowland; stepfather of George (Amy) Bolvari and Valerie (Matthew) Skoda; brother of Charlotte (Lloyd) Bruce; and cousin of Janet Shepard, Jon Rowland, Claudia Ealy and Doug MacFarlane.  He also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, as well as step-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents John and Jane Rowland.  Bob grew up primarily in Berkley, where he graduated high school and attended Lawrence Tech after graduation.  He worked as an electrician for Local 58 until retirement and spent most of his career as an “Ace.”  Bob was a dedicated Mason and regularly attended the Berkley Masonic Temple where he was Master four times.  He served as Chaplain for many years and portrayed Santa Claus for the children’s Christmas party for many years and was also a member of the ISPANS.  Bob loved playing Euchre and enjoyed hunting in his younger days. He enjoyed many trips with special friends to many parts of the country which he always loved, and he spent many evenings boating and watching the sun go down with neighbors and friends.  Bob was a good man, who lived a good life and always did the best he could.  He was loved by many and enjoyed the company of numerous friends and family.  A Masonic Service will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 3:30pm at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, Lake Orion.  The family will welcome friends for visitation on Friday from 12 noon until the time of service. Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children .
