Rochelle Maire Zeeman

Rochelle Marie Zeeman; of Oakland Township; age 40; lost her life to a long battle of Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy Type 1 on Sunday, April 22, 2018, surrounded by her family at home. Rochelle was born on July 25, 1977, in Lapeer, Michigan. She is survived by her beloved parents Tacey Ann (Zeeman) Fons and Gavin Fons; her younger brother Derek Fons (33); and younger sister Rebecca Fons (24). Rochelle would like to let you know that her departure wasn’t what she wanted, but she received an opportunity that she couldn’t refuse but to accept. Rochelle’s new opportunity takes her to a place where she will no longer be suffering from pain. She will be socializing without fear or uncertainty from others not understanding her, dancing without tiredness, bowling, jumping on trampolines and singing to her heart’s content. Music, laughter, and love are guaranteed. She will reunite with her “Ooney”, Papa, birth father John, and beloved cat Katy. Rochelle left detailed instructions for her mom and sister of how she would like her life on earth to be celebrated. Not in sadness that we lost her, but in the impact Rochelle made for us to remember her will be never ending. Low adherence to her instructions won’t be tolerated. A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 1-5pm at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home. The Eulogy will start at 3pm (please arrive 10 minutes before). Interment will be on the following day to immediate family and friends.
