In Loving Memory of
Rodney Bernard High
June 22, 1971 – May 1, 2025
Rodney Bernard High was born on June 22, 1971, in Pontiac, Michigan, to the loving union
of Mary E. High and Marion High. From a young age, Rodney carried a quiet, thoughtful spirit and found joy in life’s simple moments. He was happiest when surrounded by family or enjoying the activities he loved most.
Rodney had a deep passion for bowling and golf, often spending time perfecting his skills and enjoying the peace those sports brought him. A loyal fan of the University of Michigan, he rarely missed a game and loved keeping up with sports coverage on ESPN.
More than anything, Rodney loved his family. He was dependable, gentle, and always showed his care in quiet but powerful ways. When asked if he needed anything, he would often respond with his familiar, “Not right now”—a reflection of his humble and selfless nature.
Rodney was preceded in death by his mother, Mary E. High; his beloved aunt, Loraine McClendon; and his grandparents, Willie and Helen Lawson, and Milo and Minnie High.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his father, Marion High; sister, Tyra High; brothers, Scottie Lawson Sr. and Tyrell Kilgo; special aunt and uncle, Jo Anne and James Purty, bonus parents, Crystal Kilgo and Bobby Jones; and a host of loving family members and dear friends.
Rodney’s easygoing nature, unwavering love for his family, and warm presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
