Sandra Kay Lewis was born February 12, 1956 in Detroit, Michigan to Kay Celia Merritt who preceded her in death and Caesar R. Wardlaw who also preceded her in death. She had two Step-fathers, Issac Timber Merritt and Wallace Carson both of whom preceded her in death. At four years old she was adopted by Louis and Louise Gray who also preceded her in death, they brought Christ into her life at a very young age. Sandra was also preceded in death by her brothers, Tony Merritt and Caesar Wardlaw Jr.; adopted sister, Pamala Washington; her children, Tonya Lynn Merritt and Anthony Lewis Sr.; and her grandson James Michael Merritt. She leaves behind to cherish her loving and beautiful memories; her brothers, Issac Timothy Merritt, Rico Wardlaw and adopted brother Matt Waiters; sisters, Pamala Mamayek, Charlene Wardlaw and Fatina Wardlaw; sons, Alfonzo (Keisha) Merritt Sr., Jamie (Felicia) Lewis Sr.; her nephew that she raised like a son, Shawn Miles Sr.; step-son, Norman Harold Peeples III; daughter, Barbara Lewis; step-daughters, Kenyatt (Rudy) Jones-Arietta, Aisha Lockett and Christina Peeples; grandchildren, Tamara, Brandon, Whithney, Tonya, Anthony Jr., Tawana, Antonio, Jasmine, Jamie Jr., Alivia, Arabella Kay, Raymond, Shawn Jr., Demarcus, Trinity, Giovanni, Alfonzo Jr., Alonzo, Allona and Desiree; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, great nephews and nieces, cousins and friends who she loved and adored so very much.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 27, 2022 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, Pontiac Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, Pontiac Chapel.
