Shirley Vaughan "Viar" Davis

Shirley Vaughan (Viar) Davis, 94, of Lake Orion Michigan, passed into Eternal Rest from her home on November 11, 2025. She was a cherished wife, beloved mother, and doting grandmother and great-grandmother. She is and will be deeply missed, and always remembered.

She was born in Monroe, Virginia on January 17, 1931 to Mary Elizabeth (Jordan) Viar and George E. Viar, and raised by her mother and her step-father, Edward M. Seay. Shirley attended C.H. Friend High School in Halifax, Virginia. She married Robert L. Davis on May 24, 1947 and they celebrated 62 years together.

Shirley was a long-time member of the Dequindre Road Baptist Church in Warren, Michigan where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, and a member of theChurch Board.

In 2010 she relocated to Lake Orion, Michigan where she faithfully attended St. Mary’s In-The-Hills Episcopal Church in Lake Orion.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Donna Davis-Daisley (Al Daisley) of Lake Orion; son, Barry K Davis (Amy Keasler) of Sarasota, FL; Grandchildren, Lynda M. Hart (Travis) of Orchard Park, NY; Michael S. Daisley (Ashley) of Lake Orion; James R. Daisley (Nicole) of Lake Orion; Jason R. Davis of Philadelphia, PA; Dakota Davis (Justin Harris) of Dennison, TX; and 7 Great-Grandchildren, Lucas, Henry, Jack, Vivienne, Lucy, Riley and Oliver. She is also survived by her brother, Garnett Seay (Marilyn) of Nampa, ID.

Shirley was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Robert; and siblings, Edward, Mildred, Lois, Arthur and Alvin.

Shirley was a fantastic role model for her family and friends. She was an entrepreneur and business owner. Her faith was a constant throughout her life. She loved to travel across the United States as well as internationally. Shirley lived a life full of challenges, which she met head-on, with opportunities that she fully experienced, and with a family that she loved fiercely and fully. She was a loyal friend to many, and an example to all of a life well-loved and well-lived.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home in Lake Orion, MI.
