Stanley Janik, age 88, of Pontiac, MI, fell asleep in death peacefully on July 8, 2024.
Stan is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Dorothy; his children, Walter (Kimberly), Stanley, Eddie (Rhonda), John (Myra), Steve (Barbara), Esteva (Step-daughter), Nancy Oleski, Annette Prentice, Donna Sternicki, Steve (Dana) Sternicki; and grandchildren, Brandon, Anthony, Cassidy, Taylor, Stephanie, Anthony, Matthew, Rebecca, Kleatha, Jessica, Samantha, Gavin, Colby, and Tori; along with many nieces, nephews and countless friends.
Stan is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Kasnur Janik; brother, Mitchell; sister-in-law, Rita; sister, Mary; his former wife, Cleo; and children, David, George, and Joe.
Stan was a self-made man. Though having a humble beginning – living in a foster home and being sent to a boy's school at a young age and having only a 9th-grade education, he went on to create his own success, being a driving instructor, having a Janitorial business and bought and sold cars on his own lot and garage.
He fathered 10 children, including 5 adopted children. He raised them from diapers without the help of a wife. He cared for his late wife, Cleo, through her debilitating illness until her death in 2005. He has since been a loving, caring, and supportive husband to Dorothy for the last 18 years.
Stan was a strong man; he had a great sense of humor, and he loved to make people laugh. He loved having garage sales and finding hidden gems in neighbors' sales. By the way, everyone was a neighbor to Stan. He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and buying and selling cars until his death.
But Stan’s strongest love was being one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for 42 years and teaching people the truth of God’s word, the Bible.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 1:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 217 Elizabeth Lake Road, Pontiac, Michigan 48341.
