Stuart Braid age 89 died peacefully at his Oakland Township home and farm, Wednesday, August 1, 2007.He was preceded in death by his wife Ila (Porritt) and a son Ralph.He is survived by his son Edward (Pat) Ft. Myers, FL. And his daughter Margaret (Jim) Gerometta. He is also survived by grandsons David Braid, AZ and Paul Braid (Brenda), TN, Jimmy Gerometta (Rachel) Trenton, and Great Grandsons Dillon and Austin Braid and Daniel and Charlie Gerometta.Mr. Braid began his farming career in 1940 and actively farmed until 2004. During this time he served his community in many capacities. He was a member and leader in East Orion Farm Bureau and 4-H Club, President of the Michigan Milk Producers Assoc. Assessor for Orion Township and served on the Planning Commission and Board of Review and served as Supervisor for Oakland Township. He was a member of Lake Orion Masonic Lodge and the Howarth United Methodist Church.Mr. Braid enjoyed family, friends and farming and will long be remembered as a loving hard working father, grandfather and good man.Funeral services Saturday, 12:00 PM from the Howarth United Methodist Church. Interment East Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday at the Lake Orion Chapel, Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home (248) 693-8336) from 3 until 9:00 pm.
