Stuart R. Fournier

October 4, 1919 — March 27, 2010

Fournier, Stuart R, of Oxford formerly of Pontiac, passed away March 27, 2010 at the age of 90. Stuart was born in Detroit, on October 4, 1919 the oldest son of Romeo and Alta Fournier. Stuart was the loving husband of the late Garnetta for 64 happy years. He was the dear father of Kathryn (Maurits) Lang and Ronald Fournier. Beloved Grandpa to Robin and Matthew Lang. Stuart is also survived by his brother Lloyd (Jean Case) Fournier and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Fournier was raised in Wixom and Pontiac, graduating from Pontiac High School in 1938. Stu and Gar, high school sweethearts, married on May 23, 1945 at St Vincent Catholic Church in Pontiac while Stuart was on leave from the United States Navy. Stu was a WWII Veteran who retired from General Motors in 1976. He was absolutely devoted and doting toward his two grandchildren. He was an avid golfer and bowler, who loved to play baseball and ice hockey when he was young. He will be greatly missed. Funeral service Tuesday 11am, April 5, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church (715 N. Lapeer Rd.). Family will receive friends Monday after 3pm with suggested visiting hours of 3-5 & 7-9 pm at the Lake Orion Chapel of the Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home. Interment Ottawa Park Cemetery.
