Thomas Simmons Sr.

Thomas Albert Simmons Sr.; of Lake Orion; passed away on December 17, 2020.  Thomas is the beloved husband of Carol Ann Simmons (Waite) for 49 years; dear father of Thomas Albert (Kelly) Simmons Jr. and Travis Adam (Melissa) Simmons; and adoring grandfather of Ryan Simmons, Caitlin Simmons, Emma Simmons and John Simmons. He is also the brother of Patricia (Richard) Beaty, Margaret (Tom) Dooley, Deborah (Sam) Glascock, Mark (Sharon) Simmons and Michael (Diane) Simmons; and brother in law of Roger (Dianna) Waite, Douglas (Gail) Waite and Sharon (Dave) Preston. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Thomas Simmons and Rosemary Simmons (Webb); and his parents in law, Max Leroy Waite and Florence Ann Waite. Tom was born on December 6, 1950 in Ferndale and attended Southfield High School, graduate class of 1969. That very same year, he enlisted in the United States Army, Rank E4 Company A, 802nd Battalion, Engineer division. After proudly serving his country, he went on to have a long career as a Welder with Ford Motor Company. He also loved coaching in the Lake Orion Youth baseball league for 17 years. In his spare time, Tom enjoyed hunting, farming, putzing around the house, going to the family cabin, and decorating his front yard for Christmas. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 1pm at Eastlawn Cemetery on Orion Road, Lake Orion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lake Orion War Memorial.
