Victor LaFerle, 93, of Lake Orion, peacefully passed away on July 29, 2021 surrounded by family members. Born in Royal Oak to Victor LaFerle and Nellie (Mayfield) LaFerle, Victor was a highly spirited and life loving boy. After he graduated, Victor enlisted in the army with the 82nd airborne division and, with World War II ending, became a division personel clerk based in Brooklyn. This experience kickstarted his career in analysis and landed him a job at Jam Handy. While at this job he met his future wife June (Hadden). After marrying in 1954, he moved on to Chrysler Defense
managing government contracts and they went on to have two children - daughter Kim (Barnowsky) and his son Ken. Victor put family first, always, and was a dedicated father. Victor was a strong, kind, loving, and supportive father. His knowledge and guidance was the foundation of his family. Retiring at the age of 60, Victor prepared for the next phase in his journey, enjoying life and staying active with June in Florida. Victor was also a passionate golfer, fishermen, and grandfather. Then he discovered his true passion – helping others. He spent most of his retirement starting, developing and managing a charity clothing operation for the Port St. Joe Methodist Church – The Care Closet. During his leadership over twenty years, the Care Closet raised over $300,000 that was donated to the local community for those in need. Victor was predeceased by June, his brothers Richard, Glen, Raymond, and sister Ida and leaves behind his sister Janet, children Kim and Ken, their spouses Tom and Kathy, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.
